Clay Mix is proud to present an invitational group exhibition entitled “Clay Mentors II”
from September 3rd to October 31st. This exhibit features works by ceramic instructors from local
community colleges and university as well as other California universities. This exhibit will present
works by Una Mjurka of CSU Fresno, Bob Kizziar of Fresno City College, Garrett Masterson of
Reedley College, Susanne French of Merced College, Craig Easter of Clay Mix, Patsy Cox of
CSU Northridge, Cameron Crawford of CSU Chico, Tom Decker of CSU Sacramento, and Monica
Van den Dool of San Jose State University. The exhibition includes a variety of styles and
techniques, figurative and architectural sculptures and wall pieces. The opening reception with the
artists is at 5pm on Thursday, September 3rd during Art Hop.
The first “Clay Mentors” exhibit was held May of 2008 as the inaugural exhibition at Clay
Mix. The exhibition featured works by local ceramic instructors to showcase the kind of ceramic
programs that are available in the area. For this second exhibit, invitation was extended to a
larger area and showcase the strength of ceramics programs in other parts of California where
students in Central California might consider attending. In conjunction with the exhibition,
Monica Van del Dool of San Jose State University will be conducting a workshop at Clay Mix on
Saturday, October 3rd from 9am to 4pm. Monica will demonstrate her technique and talk about
her work. The fee is $35 in advance (signing up before September 19) and $45 after if there are
still seats are available. A $10 discount will be offered to students. Lunch is included.
