George Rodriguez, a ceramic artist born and raised in El Paso, TX, creates decorative sculptures addressing his identity and community. As the First in his family to graduate from college, he earned a Master of Fine Art in ceramics from University of Washington, Seattle, WA. His artistic journey was ignited by a search for his unique voice. George's talent has been recognized with awards and fellowships, including from NCECA and the Virginia Groot Foundation. His artworks are part of prestigious collections, such as the National Mexican Museum of Art, Chicago, IL and the Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC. George recently has created a large public sculpture for the new Kansas City Airport, which opened March 2023. He currently teaches at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture and University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
